Amos' Story

Amos was born 6 September 1867 in Mahoning Township, PA. When the 1870 Census was conducted he lived on a farm in Mahoning Township with his parents and siblings next door to his father's parents and close to his mother's parents.

The 1880 Census indicates he still lives with his parents and siblings in Mahoning Township. Then in an 1889 City Directory Amos (22 y.o.) is listed as a farmer in Edinberg, PA.

On 13 Sep 1894 Amos married Anna Alice Davis in the same Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD as his sister Adaline and James Fairbanks. In the 1900 Census Amos and Annie live in Baltimore with a young son, Sidney; Amos is a broom maker.

The 1920 Census shows Amos as living in Anne Arundel County, MD on a farm he owns free (no mortgage) next door to his brother Everett. Living with him are his wife and three sons, plus son Sydney's wife Ida. Amos manufacturers brooms.

In the 1930 Census Amos lives in the same location with his wife and one son, Ammon. He does not appear to be working (retired?). Brother Everett is next door.

Amos Ervin Ripple died in February 1931. He (and likely Annie) are buried at Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore in the RR Section, Lot 943.
