Our Story

Mildred Ripple Lyons, 84, of Severna Park, died May 28 at North Arundel Hospital of complications of a stroke.

Mrs. Lyons was born in Cheltenham and graduated from Surrattsville High School in Prince George's County. She was a homemaker and an avid bridge player. Her husband, William Arthur Lyons, died in 1971.

Surviving are three sons, Michael Lyons of LaPlata, Patrick Lyons of Glenelg and John Lyons of Royal Oak; four daughters, Doris Bardales of Rockville, Grace Dove of Laurel, Mary Catherine West of Newburgh, N.Y. and Anne Sosnow of Pasadena; one brother, Robert Ripple of Marlboro; two sisters, Grace Duvall of Upper Marlboro and Doris Smoot of Brandywine, 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek Road, Severna Park. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. (Obituary in The Capital of Annapolis, Maryland on 30 May 1998)
