Mary Jane Ripple was born 13 September 1838 along with her twin sister Sarah in Edinburg, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. In the 1850 Census and the 1860 Census Mary lives at home on a farm in Mahoning Township, Lawrence County, PA with her parents and siblings.
In the 1870 Census Mary continues to live on the farm with her parents.
